The Japanese lifestyle brand NIGO’s HUMAN MADE will open a new street-level store, “HUMAN MADE KOBE,” on February 14, 2026, in Kobe’s historic Former Foreign Settlement district. Marking the brand’s third location in the Kansai region, the new space further expands its physical presence while deepening its dialogue with place and culture.

The store is situated on the first floor of the Chartered Building, a historic structure located on Kaigan-dori in Kobe’s Chuo Ward. Originally built to house the Kobe branch of the British Chartered Bank, the building retains its stately stone façade and classical architectural details, standing as a symbol of the district’s layered international history. The atmosphere of Kobe’s Former Foreign Settlement—where Western modernity once intersected with Japanese urban culture—resonates with HUMAN MADE’s own approach of reinterpreting vintage Americana through a distinctly Japanese lens.

The interior design was led by WONDERWALL, the design studio headed by Masamichi Katayama. Known for crafting immersive retail environments for global brands, WONDERWALL integrates the building’s historical gravitas with HUMAN MADE’s playful iconography. A monumental bull object—an emblem frequently associated with the brand—anchors the space, creating a compelling tension between classical architecture and contemporary graphic expression.

To commemorate the opening, exclusive Kobe items will be released. These include work jackets, hoodies, and T-shirts featuring the bull graphic, as well as gold bar–inspired paperweights and key rings—a witty nod to the building’s former life as a bank. Limited-color heart logo sweatshirts will also be available.

On opening day, entry between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. will be managed by lottery, with general admission beginning at 2:00 p.m. Regular business hours will be 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Following its locations in Osaka and Kyoto, the Kobe store further strengthens HUMAN MADE’s footprint in Kansai. More than a retail expansion, this new space suggests an ongoing effort to embed the brand within the cultural and architectural fabric of each city it enters—transforming storefronts into contextual experiences rather than mere points of sale.
